Secular Earth Closing

After more than 3 years Secular Earth is closing. While traffic has steadily increased and Secular Earth appears to have found its niche recently, its original intent on becoming a social network for like minded people never really developed. With the recent communities Atheist Nexus and Think Atheist coming online as well as the many Facebook groups we feel that the market is becoming saturated. Our goal of providing a less militant and more thoughtful voice has been somewhat lost in the sea of atheiest and humanist forums.

If anyone is interested in aquiring the content of this site or the the name SecularEarth.com for that matter, click here.

This site will be taken down before June 15, 2009.

Very sorry to see you close the site. I agree that Atheist Nexus and other social networking sites offer some stiff competition. Perhaps what is needed is to specialize? Find a particular niche and concentrate on the audience for this niche. Just a thought. I know it demands a lot of time and effort to keep a web site going and growing.

We will want to capture all the data in Apostate Alley. Is the 15th a date when we can no longer access the site at all? I'll be talking with James Tracy the web king for our WordPress site. As I recall he received and examined the data you sent him a short while back.
